AN EXPERT has warned Britons to be careful when watching viral cleaning hacks on social media, claiming some could even be deadly. Apps, such as TikTok and Instagram, are great for information and inspiration - but as guru Ben Slater from Online-Bedrooms noted, some of it is purely for clicks. ![]() ![]() Chatting exclusively to Fabulous, Ben said: “CleanTok is a really big community on TikTok which is great - users share their tips for achieving a sparkling clean home but there are some concerns. “People find it really satisfying watching creators mix together several cleaning products in an attempt to deep clean their homes but there is actually some danger that they’re creating really harmful and acidic chemicals. “Everyone should familiarise themselves with which cleaning products they should never mix to avoid accidentally creating dangerous combinations in their home which could be harmful to them and their families.'' Here are five cleaning products to never mixBleach and vinegar These two products should never be mixed together as they can create chlorine gas, Ben explained. ''They are two staple cleaning products that work great as a disinfectant when used separately. ''Combining them can lead to coughing, difficulty breathing and watery eyes.'' ''On TikTok, a lot of videos show creators mixing toilet bowl cleaner with bleach and other products. Baking soda and vinegar Over the years, baking soda and vinegar have both become incredibly popular alternatives to store-bought cleaning products - and rightly so. But as the expert revealed, they should never be used together. ''When mixed together they turn into a foam, if this is placed in a small container it can cause a mini explosion,'' Ben said. Drain cleaners ''If you’re noticing a bad smell coming from your drains it can be tempting to use multiple drain cleaners in an attempt to banish the odour, but this can be extremely harmful.''
